With swindling being a business of gains with easy money, Paul became attracted to it in his young adulthood. It all started with stealing a stethoscope and pretending to be a doctor in hospital wards. His numerous plausible charades were stints as a medical consultant, ballet dancer, army officer, merchant banker and earl. But, with more than ten identities at a time, he slipped up in 2009, which cost him everything.

Unloved As A Child

Paul’s childhood in Northampton was anything but colorful. Being abused by the people he cared about the most, his parents, damaged his self-esteem and made him hate his life. All this suffering made him start to dream of living in someone else’s shoes as he expressed:

“I used to daydream about living in a big house and having people around that loved me.”

After turning 21, Paul enacted his dreams by stealing a stethoscope from Northampton General Hospital in 1983 and acting as a doctor. He liked it when people treated him with the respect he had never experienced as the common man Paul. It helped him discover his deception skills, and he…
