1972 is a year crystallized in most Americans’ memories. No one can forget the 125 FBI officers chasing after a group of bank robbers; no one can forget the nine to twelve million dollars apprehended that day. Nine million dollars in 1972 is a whopping 56 million dollars today. It created national intrigue- getting to know more about the perfectly executed crime fans the curiosity further.

The Four-man Dinsio crew

No one else other than the Dinsio family could have pulled off the bank heist. Hailing from Youngstown, Ohio, this business ran within the family. Amil Dinsio was the mastermind behind this heist. His brother-in-law Charles Mulligan was the habitual look-out-man, trusted with the heavy responsibility to guarantee the gang’s security. Amil’s brother James Dinsio was the residential expert on explosives and crafting the perfect burglary tools. While his nephew, Harry Barber, was an all-rounder.

The heist of the United California Bank’s branch in Laguna Niguel wasn’t the crew’s first heist. They had successfully robbed around 30 banks, carefully crafting the plan for each job and delicately executing it every time. Amil talking…
