Basketball Runs In The Family
Lorenzen was raised in Oxford, Mississippi, and excelled at basketball from the beginning. He played it at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels.
It ran in the family. His father, Herb Wright, was also a professional basketball player and eventually joined the Memphis Police Department.
When he was seven, his father was left paralyzed, unable to ever play basketball again. He was shot in the back.
Makes A Mark In The Field And People’s Hearts
Lorenzen stood out from the start. His professional record reflected that.
He was selected seventh overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 1996 NBA draft.
As a rookie, Lorenzen scored career-high 17 points in a Game 2 loss against the Utah Jazz on April 26, 1997. The following season, he again scored a season-high 32 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in an overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
