December 8, 1980, was the fateful day that millions of fans lost John Lennon, the co-lead vocalist of the band Beatles. Beatles doesn’t need any introduction: the 1960s band is considered the most influential band of all time, and for a good reason. Yet, even amongst them, John Lennon stood out. This man was brutally shot by Mark David Chapman four times in the back, and the horror-stricken world witnessed his life end en route to the hospital. Who, after all, was Mark Chapman?

Motives For Murder

Mark had no past criminal record. Before killing John, he had never before even indulged in petty crime. There was absolutely no indication of the man being dangerous at all. That only makes his case more unsettling.

Mark had many grudges against John, and they soon turned into murderous intent in the 1980s. For three months, he mulled over the grievances, making up his mind to take away a life the world still grieves over.
