Albert DeSalvo terrorized and murdered women left and right between June 1962 and January 1964. Police from several cities flocked to solve the case.

“Measuring Man” Or “Boston Strangler”?

The murders started in Boston in June 1962. Women between 19 and 85 years were targeted. Even though diverse in ethnicity and age, they were all single women.

These women lived alone. The Boston strangler always pretended to either be a repair or delivery man. That is why no case signaled forced entry.

All victims were raped, sometimes with foreign objects. They were strangled to death; sometimes, a knife was used.

The object used to strangle was always left tied around the victims’ neck in a flourishing, exaggerated bow.

Even after Albert DeSalvo was caught, there was doubt whether he was the Boston Strangler or the sex offender “Measuring Man.”

A few years before the Boston Strangler, the “Measuring Man” committed several sex offenses in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
