Beauty Queen’s Vicious Murder Yet to Be Solved
Police had two suspects for Nona Dirksmeyer’s killing, yet they could not identify the murderer.
Nona, 19, was a beauty pageant queen who worked to raise awareness about child abuse. After her father sexually abused her as a child, she wanted to ensure that no other child suffered what she had suffered.
However, the world was not kind to Nona. On a cold December night in 2005, she was found with her throat slit and beaten to death in her apartment.
Finds Her Purpose
Nona was born on December 26, 1985, in Russellville, Arkansas. Her parents, Paul and Carol Dirksmeyer, failed to provide her with the childhood she deserved.
Paul sexually molested her as a child till he died when Nona was ten. She did not tell her mother about the abuse until months after Paul died.
As a young girl, Nona aimed to raise awareness about child abuse by competing in several beauty pageants. She was in Arkansas Tech University when Carol remarried a man named Duane Dipert.
He imposed strict house rules, so Nona moved out and found an apartment near her university.
